Rain hits second day’s play. On Monday, India Cements scored 299 runs in their first innings. At stumps, on a rain-hit day when only 26.2 overs were possible, Hyderabad went to stumps at 75 runs for the loss of two wickets. Akshath and B Sandeep were at the crease on 35 and 5 respectively.

Hyderabad: Even as they stare at an improbable outcome in their favour, opener P Akshath Reddy gave a steady start to Hyderabad XI in the finals of the All India Coromandel King Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup Invitation Cricket Tournament at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

On Monday, India Cements scored 299 runs in their first innings. At stumps, on a rain-hit day when only 26.2 overs were possible, Hyderabad went to stumps at 75 runs for the loss of two wickets. Akshath and B Sandeep were at the crease on 35 and 5 respectively.

The hoist had a disastrous start, though. Opener T Suman (12) fell with side total reading 13 runs. He was caught by Rahil Shah of L Vignesh. Captain G H Vihari was given LBW to a J Kaushik delivery when he was on 18 runs and had put on 38 run for the second wicket with Akshath.

Wednesday is the final day of the match. International Cricket Council (ICC) President Zaheer Abbas will give away the prizes while former player VVS Laxman will also grace the occasion.
