Mohammed shahid born on 14th April 1960 was a former Indian field hockey player. he was one the best Hockey player for India and was known for his dribbling skills. He was also the part of the Indian hockey team that has won a gold medal in the 1980\'s Olympic Games in Moscow, he was also awarded Padma Shri in 1986 and Arjuna Award in 1980-1981.

On June 2016, Mohammed Shahid had been admitted to SSL hospital at Banaras Hindu University with a severe stomach ache and later he was flown to New Delhi and was admitted in Gurgaon Medanta Mendicity Hospital where he passed away.

Shahid's former Olympic player MM Somaya who played three Olympics games with him said that it was a treat to watch Shahid and his partnership with the former field player Zafar, they were very talented and skillful players and also they had given Indian fans a treasure box of memories of that ear.
