Yousuf stars for Shalimar Cricket Club

Abdul Yousuf’s all-round performance helped Shalimar Cricket Club beat Akshit CC by six wickets in the HCA A4-A10 division one-day league championship here on Sunday.

Batting first, Akshit CC was all out for 96. Abdul Yousuf scalped five wickets for 21 runs while G Srujay took three wickets. In reply, Shalimar CC achieved the target in 21.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Devesh Daima contributed an unbeaten 35 runs while Yousuf made 32 runs.

Brief scores: Akshit CC 96( Vishnu 31, Abdul Yousuf 5/21, G Srujay 3/15) lost to Shalimar CC 97 for 4 (Devesh Daima 35no, Abdul Yousuf 32).

NE States top

The domination of North Eastern states was such that they won three of the four finals in the 19th Sub-Junior national sepak-takraw championship at Victory Play Ground on Sunday.

Mizoram and Assam won the boys and girls singles respectively. Mizoram beat Delhi 14-21, 21-12, 21-8 while Assam downed Nagaland 21-18, 21-16. Nagaland beat Bihar 21-09, 21-18 to win the girls double event final. Uttar Pradesh defeated Telangana State 21-14, 21-16 for the boys double event.

Later, BV Papa Rao, Advisor to Government of Telangana gave away the prizes. CMD Ratnakar, President, APSTA, Prof K Ranga Rao, President, Olympic Association of Telangana, and national level officials were present on the occasion.
