“Sports is my stress buster,” says Chittoor Special Branch DSP NTV Ramkumar. The police officer returned to be flooded with appreciations from the top brass in his police department and sports lovers after his participation in the world police and fire games held in Los Angeles from August 8 to 16.

The police officer returned to be flooded with appreciations from the top brass in his police department and sports lovers after his participation in the world police and fire games held in Los Angeles from August 8 to 16.
He is one of the two players who represented the international event from the whole country. He played in 40+ doubles tennis tournament final along with the second player of the team Asheesh Kapur from Chandigarh.In the international tourney, Ramkumar and Asheesh Kapur team beat the Hong Kong police team in doubles.
In singles, Ramkumar reached semifinal. “It is a gift which I have inherited from my father N Sriramulu Naidu and now I am passing the baton to my son - from generation to generation,” Ramkumar said with a sense of contentment writ large on his face.
Tennis is a passion he developed for the last 35 years ever since his father put him in a sports hostel in Kadapa at the age of 13. He honed up his talent in the sports after he went to Chennai for pursuing graduation and he learnt ropes from TTT Nadanam academy.
When he was studying MA History in Pachayeppas College, Chennai, he had represented and won the medals in all India Inter Universities tennis tourneys twice.In the year 1991, RamKumar joined as a sub inspector of police through sports quota in the AP Police department.
When he was working as CI Intelligence, Ramkumar has won several medals. He played in a series of events held in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada and Ongole districts during that period. He represented AP in 2015 police tennis team at all India Police Sports meet held in Delhi. In those games, his team reached semifinals in doubles tennis tourney.
Earlier, Ramkumar has got AP lawn tennis championship also. In 2016 All India Police Sports Meet held at Chandigarh, the AP police team had beaten BSF team in finals and won the medal.
