​Hyderabad: Sunflower Vedic School defeated Vignan Vidyalaya, Nizampet, 3-0 to clinch the girls U10 throwball title at the SFA Championships, India’s largest professional inter-school sporting event, currently underway at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Tuesday. The Sunflower Vedic girls clinched the first set quite convincingly at 15-9 but got some resistance from the Vignan Vidyalaya girls in the second before winning it 15-11. The third set went to the wires, but eventually the Sunflower girls prevailed over the Vignan Vidyalaya girls 17-15 to win the title.
Parmeet shines in Karate
11-year-old Parmeet Singh Samra of Kennedy High The Global School shines in U-13 karate as he bagged two gold in kata section with an unanimous 5 flags in his favour in all matches. Later, talking to the media Parmeet, a Telangana state-level champion for the last two years said, “I find SFA championship very exciting. I came and won in the last season and was looking forward to Season 2. This year it is a double gold and I am so happy. I have been to so many events but this is different, multisport at one venue, the organisation of the event is very systematic. I get to compete with the best players and come to know where I stand.”
Ravikant stars in U- 14 Football
Veer Ravikant scored four goals as Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet blanked Open Minds A Birla School 7-0 in the boys U14 football tournament at the SFA Championships, India’s largest professional inter-school sporting event, currently underway at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Tuesday.
In another match, Aryan Akula and Rohit B scored two goals each as Akshara International School, LB Nagar defeated Orchids International School, Jubilee Hills 5-0. Elsewhere, Hruday’s brace helped The Global Edge School, Kokapet score a comprehensive 5-0 win over Johnson Grammar School ICSE & ISC, Mallapur. In other matches, Nirish Reddy scored a hat-trick as The Future Kids School, Puppal Gudda defeated Sunflower Vedic School 4-0 and Kennedy High The Global School, Bachupally, rode on two strikes by Shrithan Kanigicherla and Sarthak Patil to edge past The Future Kids School, Puppal Guda 2-0.
Football Boys U16 1st Round Results: Future Kids School, Puppal Guda 4 beat Meridian School, Madhapur 0 (Karthik Periasamy 2, 28; Samik Reddy 12, 20). Future Kids School, Puppal Guda 6 beat Meridian School, Banjara Hills 0 (Adit Kumar 20, 25; Vardhan Muttangi 13, Adit Fonseca 27, Siddhant Samdhian 2, Ved Padmawar 17).
