Based on fastest lap timings in the Mumbai and Gurugram/ Delhi qualifying rounds, 20 racers are set to compete at the National finals of Red Bull Catch Up 2019 on International Women’s Day i.e. 8th March 2019 at SMAAASH SkyKarting in Gurugram.

The qualifiers took place from 1st February to 24th February 2019 in Mumbai & Gurgaon at SMAAASH, a popular sports and entertainment center! 10 women each from Mumbai and Delhi/Gurgaon made it to the National Finals, who will further be divided into groups of 5 racers each who will race along with Red Bull Athlete Mira Erda. One winner from each group will compete in the final race against racing sensation Mira Erda. The participant reaching the finish line first and before Mira will be declared the winner and crowned as the National Champion, who will get a glorious opportunity of witnessing the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore later this year. Last year Anjali Anto emerged as the winner of the first edition and earned herself a ticket to Singapore to experience a Formula 1 Grand Prix firsthand.

Unfortunately, like most sports, go karting can appear to be male dominated at the highest level. However, there are many inspiring female drivers out there and the only way to tackle this stereotyping is for more women to get karting! Red Bull Catch Up once again aims to provide female amateur racers & racing enthusiasts with the chance to "touch" the pro side of karting and get a competitive but fun experience down at the track. It’s a karting tournament designed to find the fastest female amateur kart racer in India. Red Bull Athlete Mira Erda is India’s first Female driver to compete in one of the highest classes of Formula Racing in the country after signing up for the Euro JK series in the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Racing Championship and was also one of two Indian female drivers to be selected for the inaugural W Series trials.

On Red Bull Catch Up being a great initiative for women drivers, Mira Erda said, "It has been a dream of becoming a Formula 1 racer since I started racing at the age of 9, thus I would like to see a number of Indian Women competing at the highest level of racing. I am grateful to Red Bull for initiatives like these which give wings to aspiring female racers in the country to showcase their racing skills in a comfortable environment. I would like to wish more power to all the ladies competing at the National Finals and prove their mettle on International Women’s Day.”
