Srikakulam: In a bid to root out rowdyism from Srikakulam, a massive rally was taken out here on Thursday. The people along with the Civic Associations, traders, Citizens' Forum took part in the rally. Twenty-five civic associations and parties participated in the rally. CPI leader P Papa Rao alleged some political leaders are supporting rowdies for their selfish ends, while some hooligans are having a field day as they have the support of Dharmana Ram Manohar Naidu, son of Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao. Srikakulam Citizens Forum launched a movement to root out rowdyism from the town. The people gave a clarion call to the people to ostracise the hooligans from the society. The forum members suggested to the political leaders not to encourage rowdies as a day would come when they have to perish under their weight. The TDP, YSRCP, CPI leaders recalled how Vijayawada became a hub of rowdyism which was once a peaceful city due to the involvement of leaders in the feuds. Hence, they requested the leaders not to encourage rowdies. The members of Citizens' Forum pointed out that this is the right time to root out rowdyism, or else it would be difficult for them in future to face the consequences. YSR Congress Party leader V Kalyani said that participation of a huge number of people indicates the hatred among the people towards rowdyism.
