Srikakulam: Non-gazetted Officers (NGOs) alleged that the imposition of Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against agitating employees by the government was unfair. In this context, employees of the Treasury Department staged a silent protest at the local Seven Roads Junction here on Sunday.

The leaders of the employees’ association said that they would not give up the agitation under any circumstances. Questioning the justification of using ESMA against employees, they warned that they would intensify the agitation if the government provokes them.

Employees of the ICDS took out a huge rally at the Old Bus Stand. They formed a human chain at the Potti Sreeramulu statue. They garlanded the statue and paid homage. Women said that they have an attachment with Hyderabad city and now if they are suddenly asked to leave, they were unable to do so.

“Leaders should behave according to the sentiments of the public,” they said. Teachers took out a huge rally in support of Samaikyandhra. The Samaikyandhra activists took out a huge rally at Sompeta, Amudalavalasa and Kaviti areas. They took out a motorcycle rally at Pathapatnam.
