Hyderabad:  Telangana Government May Announce Loan Waiver Next WeekHyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has now focused his entire attention on implementing loan waiver scheme, one of the prominent promises made in party manifesto. With finance department readying proposals, an announcement could be expected within a week.

KCR held a review meeting on this issue with Chief Secretary and senior officials of the finance department at Secretariat on Friday. Directions were given to Ministers to be available in the State capital, so that a final decision could be taken. For this purpose, a Cabinet meeting is likely to be convened in the next few days.

The Chief Minister will brief Ministerial colleagues on loan waiver scheme before making a formal announcement. The Cabinet meeting is expected to discuss about other promises made in manifesto like hike of pensions, withdrawal of police cases against agitators among other things.

KCR sends Energy PS to New Delhi The Chief Minister reviewed power situation in the State with Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and CMD-GENCO, Prabhaker Rao at Secretariat on Friday.

On KCR’s instructions, principal secretary (energy) Suresh Chandra rushed to the national capital, where he was constantly in touch with Union government officials to brief them on the prevailing power position in the State. The Chief Minister had already discussed the issue with Union power secretary as well as with NTPC authorities. He directed authorities to take steps so that people were not put to any inconvenience. KCR discussed about possibilities of purchasing power from neighbouring states and other sources. He pointed out that there has been a positive response from two or three places in this regard.
