MIM Gets Recognition of Telangana State Party. The Election Commission of India has accorded recognition to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) as a State party in Telangana state.

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India has accorded recognition to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) as a State party in Telangana state. Based on the poll performance of the party in the recent general elections, the Election Commission has taken this decision. So far, though AIMIM has been performing well, it could not get the recognition in the united Andhra Pradesh as the party used to not get the required percentage of polled votes in the large state.

According to sources, the EC has noted that the AIMIM, presently registered as unrecognised party, has fulfilled the conditions laid down in para 6 of Election Symbol Order 1968 that deal with Reservation and Allotment for recognition a party as a state party.

Later, Asaduddin Owaisi, the Majlis president said that it was a great thing for them that EC recognised their party as the state party of Telangana. It is evident that AIMIM has contested in the polls from as many as 16 constituencies in the recent elections.
