Police seize 500 vehicles during special drive

Karimnagar: Police seized 500 vehicles during a special drive conducted in Sircilla and surrounding areas on Saturday. The drive was aimed at checking vehicles plying without number plates. Police were finding difficult to trace the vehicles without number plates involved in accidents. Police seized about 500 vehicles including bikes, cars and autos and shifted them to police station. Though the police were imposing penalties on the vehicles violating RTA norms for the past 15 days, vehicles owners were seen flouting rules. Acting on the instructions of Sircilla DSP, police seized the vehicles plying without number plates. Many of seized vehicles were new ones. Officials said that the vehicles will be returned to the owners after and counselling and document verification. CI Vijay Kumar said that repeated offenders would be produced in the court.
