Hyderabad: The Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who met at Raj Bhavan on Sunday agreed to solve most of the contentious issues between the two states through talks and mutual cooperation.

Accompanied by senior officials, both the CMs had a two-hour long meeting at Raj Bhavan in the presence of the Governor ESL Narasimhan. AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao decided to entrust the issue of bifurcation of 45,000 employees to the chief secretaries of the two states.

Claiming that the meeting was held in a cordial manner, both the CMs at separate press conferences said that the Centre would have no objection, if they resolved the issue of allocation of employees on their own. The Kamalanathan and Pratyush Sinha Committees were constituted to help the newly formed states. If both governments agreed mutually, then these committee would have no role to play in the matter, KCR said.

Similarly, both the leaders resolved the differences that had cropped up over the allocation of space on the Assembly premises. KCR said in order to avoid any inconvenience for both the governments, Andhra Pradesh government had come forward to cut down its budget session by three days and instead of September 10, the session would now end on September 7. The budgets session of TS would begin on September 12.

Rao said that TS had 96 out of 107 institutes which included MCHRD and APARD listed in schedule 9 and 10 of the AP State’s Reorganisation Act and the AP government could make use of those institutes.

Naidu said the AP government responded positively to KCR’s request to provide berths for Telangana at Machilipatnam port for the import of coal and other commodities. Stating that one -to-one meetings between KCR and him would be held in the coming days to sort out various issues, Naidu said KCR had requested him to allow him to retain the TS Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma in case he was allocated to AP. He said he had agreed to it as a gesture of goodwill. In fact, the CS and DGPs would be retained in the present states in case the Pratyush panel allots them to the other state, he added.
