Bathukamma festivities celebrated with gaiety in Karimnagar, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy on Thursday hailed the decision taken by the State government to celebrate Bathukamma festival as a State festival.

Karimnagar: Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy on Thursday hailed the decision taken by the State government to celebrate Bathukamma festival as a State festival.
She said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the government was celebrating the festival officially only to impart to the younger generations on Telangana culture and traditions. Bathukamma festival was grandly celebrated in Karimnagar town.
The HMTV and The Hans India organised Bathukamma festivities at the ZP hall here. Zilla Parishad Chairman and 32 women ZPTCs took part in the celebrations. Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Finance Minister Etela Rajender’s wife and Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar’s wife participated in the festivities as special guests.
The Deputy Speaker said the creation of separate Telangana State paved the way for grand celebrations of Bathukamma festival. HMTV anchor Roja took part in singing along with the guests and local women.
Bathukamma festivities were also organised at the local municipal corporation office. Corporators and municipal employees participated in the festival celebrations. The festivities were held between 6 pm and 9 pm Local MLA G Kamalakar attended the celebrations.
