Warangal: A retired Mathematics Professor TKV Iyengar of Hanamkonda was selected for Aryabhatta award from the All India Ramanujan Mathematics Club based in Gujarat.
He was chosen for the award in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of mathematics. He will be presented with the award during the Ninth National Mathematics Convention held under the aegis of All India Ramanujan Mathematics Club on.
October 11 and 12, at the Raipur Institute of Technology (RITEE) based in Raipur of Chhattisgarh state. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal would be attending the event. Iyengar had served as a faculty member in Mathematics department between 1969 and 2012 at Regional Engineering College in Warangal which is being now called as National Institute of Technology. Speaking to the media here on Saturday after being selected for the award, he said “I am thankful to REC/NIT administration for providing an opportunity to contribute my services as a teacher, researcher and supervisor and also to be a part of administration”. He is credited with best research paper award from ISTAM in 1977, best scientist award from APCOST in 2002 and best teacher award from Government of AP in 2003. He also served as president of AP Society of Mathematical Sciences in 2004 and president of Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 2006. Rajesh Kumar Thakur, Director, National Vedic Maths Academy (A branch of All India Ramanujan Maths Club Gujarat) said that the selection of the Award was done by a six-member committee.
