Hyderabad: Even as entire is talking about Swatch Bharat and cleanliness, here is one strong example of walking the talk and coming up with something concrete. An NRI woman, Mrs Usha Sharma Charya through her NGO called The JJ Mette Memorial Foundation, has built washrooms for girls students of Zilla Praja Parishad High School in Dammaiguda, Hyderabad.

The washrooms along with a kitchen for mid-day meal scheme at the ZPHS was today dedicated by Ranga Reddy District Education Office Mr G Ramesh. Talking after the programme Mr Ramesh mentioned, “The JJMM Foundation has done a nobel thing by constructing the washrooms for girl students. We wholeheartedly thank Mrs Usha for her interest in Indian young people and her generous support is a very big step in the right direction. Now the issue is maintaining such wonderfully designed washrooms. We call for NGOs to look into this issue as well.”

Responding to the call of DEO, JJMM Foundation Indian Board Member Mrs Anu Prasad said they will take up the maintenance of the washrooms at ZPHS Dammaiguda and appoint people for taking care of these washrooms in hygienic manner.


Mrs Usha started the JJMM Foundation in memory of her son. The Foundation works in USA and India and has been funding many organizations in India, which are dedicated in doing meaningful social service especially for children. The JJMM Foundation has been working directly in India with special focus on girl children. Washroom construction for government schools in Telangana is part of The Dignity Project that has been initiated by Mrs Usha in USA and India.
