Hyderabad: It looks like Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been smitten by dream bug. Barely after a day of his announcement of developing the city by constructing skywalks and express highways at a cost of a whopping Rs 30,000 crore and a week after declaring his plans to build skyscrapers around Hussainsagar, KCR has come out with a new ambitious plan.
If everything goes well, he wants to develop the existing Exhibition Society at Nampally in Hyderabad on the lines of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi which is one of the biggest exhibition societies in the world.
Unfolding his new dream at the inaugural function of Vanitha Mahavidyalaya Pharmacy Institution building constructed by the Exhibition Society here, he said the society had a big historical background in the country because it was established during the rule of Nizam to promote Hyderabad as a hub of industries and also promote industrial goods produced by the companies from across the country. The exhibition conducted in January every year receives huge public response from not only within the State but also from other States.
Considering the location of the society and the vast land it possessed in the heart of the city, the Chief Minister said the Exhibition Society could be developed as the biggest society after Pragati Maidan in the country. He commended the society for providing higher education to poor free of cost by establishing educational institutions in the city and neighbouring districts.
At present the society is running 19 educational institutions in Telangana. Finance Minister and Exhibition Chairman designate E Rajendar, MP B Narasaiah Goud and others were also present.
