Khammam: District Collector Dr K Ilambarithi said on Wednesday that all eligible persons in the district would get pensions. Participating as chief guest, Ilambarithi has launched pension distribution programme under ‘Aasara’ scheme on the premises of Pedda Thanda Gram Panchayat in Khammam rural mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, District Collector said that they have received 3,13,831 applications for different types of pensions. Officials have scrutinised 3,11,555 applications, he added.

He stated that 2,286 applications are yet to be scrutinised. He pointed out that they have identified 2,14,605 applications are eligible for pensions. “Approval was given to 1,90,000 out of 2,14,605 applications,” he stated. Ilambarithi has assured of scrutinising the remaining applications within 15 days.

District Collector said that he would take measures for providing death certificates of spouses to widows if they were denied pensions due to lack of certificates. He stated that (Software for Assessment of Disabled Access Rehabilitation and Empowerment) Sadarem camps would be organised for physically challenged persons and certificates would be issued to them.

He has instructed Khammam RDO to take steps for conducting Sadarem camps.

Ilambarithi said that officials concerned are gathering details of women, who were living separately from their husbands.


“Efforts would be made for sanctioning pensions to them after state government gives approval for the report,” he added. He said that enhanced pension amounts for the months of October and November would be distributed in pension distribution programmes. “Pension amount for the month of December would be credited into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through online,” he said.

The District Collector made an appeal to all eligible beneficiaries not to be upset if their names were missing in pension lists.

He made it clear that pension distribution is a continuous process and every eligible beneficiary would be getting pension. “A separate drive would be taken up to identify eligible beneficiaries for pension scheme,” he noted.
