Warangal: The BJP which had criticised the UPA government’s decision on making Aadhaar card mandatory for availing subsidy on LPG cylinders was now implementing the same, said District Congress Committee (DCC) president N Rajender Reddy.

The DCC chief said that BJP and other governments were relying on the initiatives taken by the Congress party in the past. “Making Aadhaar card compulsory for availing LPG subsidy was an example,” he said. The Congress with a long history of ruling the country has always made an effort for the upliftment of people. The present BJP-led NDA government was making tall promises while delivering very little. “Only Congress kept its promises and people of this country were aware it,” he stated.

Speaking to the media at Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda on Thursday, Rajender Reddy appealed to people of the district to enroll themselves as members of the party for strengthening it in the interests of the country.

It was the Congress party that led the nation into 21st century under the leadership of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi while economic reforms under the leadership of former Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao had placed the country in third position in global economic scenario, he said. The public should feel proud to be associated with Congress and support the party to improve the standard of living of poor and weaker sections, he added.

The DCC president informed that the TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and AICC secretary and the state in-charge RC Khuntia would be visiting the district on December 20 to review the membership drive.

He appealed to the Assembly constituency and mandal-level party in-charges and leaders to attend the meeting along with the membership books and appraise the visiting leaders about the membership in the district.

The TPCC media convener EV Srinivasa Rao, TPCC secretaries K Srikar and K Srinivas, DCC leaders Binny Laxman, Seeta Shaym, Erragattu Temple Committee chairman B Surender and others were present.
