KCR opens Numaish, praises nizam

Hyderabad: Alleging that previous regimes had exploited Hyderabad commercially without making any significant development, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao lauded the Nizam for the real development of Hyderabad. All the major railway stations, government hospitals and major reservoirs like Nizam Sagar were built during the Nizam’s period, he said.

KCR was speaking after inaugurating the annual Industrial Exhibition, better known as Numaish, at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally on Sunday. “Like every individual Nizam might have made some mistakes. But that does not mean he should be disregarded,” KCR said.

Hyderabad is infamous for water logging in rainy season and traffic woes. This situation should not be there if Hyderabad was really developed by the previous regimes, he said. The CM said his government had plans to transform Hyderabad like the Dallas city in the US by constructing multi-layer fly-overs to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the future. He sought co-operation of city residents for government’s ambitious plans to develop the city.

Meanwhile, in a significant move, the Chief Minister announced that prime land in Nampally, where Numaish is being held, would be allotted permanently to the Exhibition Society, which was doing social work with non-profit motive.
