Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali on Saturday stated that national development was possible only when farmers got results of welfare schemes. Participating as a chief guest at a seminar on ‘State Economic Growth through Mechanised Agriculture’ at Vishweshwaraya Bhavan at Khairatabad here, the Deputy Chief Minister exhorted agriculture scientists, engineers and students pursuing high degree courses to shift their focus on research activity that would prove handy for peasants in a big way.

Mahamood Ali noted that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government aimed at extending total support to farming community in the State. “Chief Minister K Chandrashkar Rao is determined to offer complete help to farm community. We are well aware that any State will witness growth only when the farming community is empowered in terms of money,” Ali stated.

Though some political parties were trying to make baseless allegations, the government would not neglect agriculture sector, he remarked. “Time is ripe to provide latest technological know-how, farm practices of global level and research results to help farmers reap in better benefits,” he observed. Unless all the State governments vie for giving top priority to farm sector with all inputs, subsidies, loans, fertilisers, seeds and adequate power supply, our productivity would not increase, he said. Mahamood Ali stressed on the need for giving minimum support prices to their produce besides providing room for storing their produce. He expressed hope that the farmers would get benefits from agriculture research.
