Siddipet and Vikarabad towns will be made districts after the proposed reorganisation of the Assembly constitutions in the State, said Minister T Harish Rao here on Monday. Rao was responding to a poser by members of the Vikarabad Development Forum,(VDF) who sought to ‘gherao’ him near R&B guest house over rumours that Chevella would be made a district. The VDF members also referred to reports that the Ranga Reddy collectorate would be re-built in Gachibowli.

Vikarabad: Siddipet and Vikarabad towns will be made districts after the proposed reorganisation of the Assembly constitutions in the State, said Minister T Harish Rao here on Monday. Rao was responding to a poser by members of the Vikarabad Development Forum,(VDF) who sought to ‘gherao’ him near R&B guest house over rumours that Chevella would be made a district. The VDF members also referred to reports that the Ranga Reddy collectorate would be re-built in Gachibowli.

The Minister clarified that Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao had promised to make Vikarabad a district. He assured that it would become a district along with Siddipet, while appealing to the Forum members not to believe rumours.Earlier, various organisations, under the VDF banner, took out a rally in the town and forced closure of shops. They staged ‘rasta roko’, paralysing traffic. When they tried to move towards the sub-collectorate for staging a dharna, the police stopped them. The VDF members questioned Harish Rao after learning that he was passing by.

Ranga Reddy District JAC president Srinivas, TRSV State secretary Subhaprada Patel, Town JAC president Narsimlu, Textile Traders’ Association leaders Vijayakumar, Rajender, Doctors’ organisation president Dr. Anand Kumar, Lawyers’ Association leader Govardhan reddy, Finance association leaders Mohan and Lecturers’ organisation leader Ramchander participated.

Harish Rao promises to bring Krishna water to TandurTandur: Minister for Major Irrigation T Harish Rao on Monday said Palmuru lift irrigation scheme would provide irrigation to 2 lakh acres in Palamuru and Rangareddy districts. Harish Rao along with Minister for Transport Mahender Reddy laid foundation stone for several development schemes in Tandur. Speaking to reporters here, Harish Rao said the government had allotted Rs 16,000 crore for first phase of Palamuru lift irrigation project.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was committed to develop backward districts in the State. He said the government was planning to bring Krishna water to Vikarabad, Parigi and Tandur to promote agriculture. He said the government had increase the pension from Rs 200 to Rs 1000 each and PDS rice from 4 kg to 6 kg per head.
