Especially after speculation that TRS party is likely to join the Modi Government, MIM is keeping a close watch on the ally party. In the 2014 general elections, MIM had a good relationship with TRS but differed with it on the regularization of illegal occupation of government lands for a price.

As there is no official word on the BJP tie-up issue from the Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, MIM leaders are preferring to wait and watch. A senior MIM leader said that they don’t know whether KCR will join the NDA government or not and cannot jump to conclusion based on reports in the media. Hence the MIM is watching the developments.

Though the relation between TRS and MIM is coming under strain for various reasons with reports of TRS’ membership drive in the Old City, TRS’ possible alliance with the BJP at the Centre and regularization of lands for a price among others but for the moment, they are friends. However, MIM’s request of realignment of Metro Rail was adhered by the CM. Interestingly, while the TS government was condemned for shifting the Secretariat by all parties, MIM did not. Mr Rao and MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi have maintained a cordial political relationship until now.

T. Padma Rao, excise minister and city strongman said that all is well with the MIM. Even though they are allies, the friendship continues and there are no differences with MIM said Padma Rao. He said that their aim is to win the GHMC elections as TRS’ membership drive has massive response in the city and other parts of the state.

The government aims to have a good relationship with the Centre which does not mean it plans to join NDA said a TRS MP. The GHMC polls to be held after delimitation of the divisions are being geared up by the TRS and MIM.
