The House Committee, which was constituted to inquire into Wakf lands in Telangana State, has begun its probe here on Wednesday. The first meeting of the House Committee was held in the Committee\'s Hall on the State Legislative Assembly premises on Wednesday.
The members also sought complete set of reports, statistics and other relevant information by next meeting so as to get an overall picture of Wakf properties in Telangana State, apart from district-wise information along with their status
Hyderabad: The House Committee, which was constituted to inquire into Wakf lands in Telangana State, has begun its probe here on Wednesday. The first meeting of the House Committee was held in the Committee's Hall on the State Legislative Assembly premises on Wednesday. The meeting chaired by Bajireddy Govardhan was attended by MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi (MIM), DK Aruna (Congress), Shakil (TRS) and S Rajender Reddy (TDP) and MLCs Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Congress), Mohammed Saleem (TRS) and Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi (MIM).
Participating in the discussion, the members were unanimous in their request that all HODs of concerned departments like Wakf Board, Minorities Welfare and Revenue should be directed to attend the meeting. Further, they also sought complete set of reports, statistics and other relevant information by next meeting so as to get an overall picture of Wakf properties in Telangana State.
The House Committee members also sought district-wise information on the Wakf properties, along with their status. According to sources, Legislature Secretary S Raja Sadaram has assured the members that all concerned departments would be sent a questionnaire seeking relevant information.
He said the information would be sent to all the members well in advance so that they would come prepared for the next meeting. All the members, on behalf of their parties, have announced total support to the House Committee in its probe. The next meeting is likely to be held only after the conclusion of next budget session of Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council.
