Compared to the one percent VAT which is at the present state, gold sales are to be raised with the VAT benchmark as the state government plans to hoist a whopping Rs.500 crore. Also, special software at a cost of Rs.5 crore is to be inducted by the government to record and account the gold sales reaching a peak level in Hyderabad.
After Mumbai and Kolkata, the stock exchange of India and Gold council of India have put the gold sales in Hyderabad highest in view of the large amount of smuggled gold entering the market by air and sea.
A gold traders association member of Siddiambar bazaar says that in Hyderabad, approximately five to ten tones of gold is sold per month.
