Hyderabad: A new Telugu daily called ‘Nava Telangana’ is set to hit stands on the auspicious day of Manmadhanama Samvatsaram, the Telugu New Year day on Saturday. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the paper at a function to be held at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday. The newspaper is being brought out by the Telangana state unit of CPI(M). The party has been publishing a news daily called ‘Prajasakti’ in Telugu in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Now that the state is bifurcated, the CPM decided to bring out a new daily. Nava Telangana launch will be witnessed by several important leaders from all political parties. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TTDP president L. Ramana, Telangana BJP unit president G Kishan Reddy, MIM Chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, YSRCP Telangana unit president and MP Ponguleti Srinivasulu Reddy, Lok Satta Telangana unit president Bandaru Rammohan Rao, Media advisor to Government of Telangana KV Ramanachari, I and B Commissioner RV Chandravadan and OSD (CMO) Desapati Srinivas are among those who would be participating in the launch of the newspaper.

Allam Narayana, chairman, Press Academy of Telangana and a galaxy of editors representing Telugu and English dailies, will grace the occasion. They include Prof K Nageshwar (Editor, The Hans India), V. Murali (Editor, Sakshi), K. Srinivas (Editor, Andhra Jyothi), MVR Shastri (Editor, Andhra Bhoomi), YSR Sharma (Editor, Andhra Prabha) among others. Key-note address will be delivered by Shashi Kumar, Chairman, Asian College of Journalism.
