AICC General Secretary lashes out at KCR, Naidu, says KCR interested in luxuries, commissions
Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and party State in charge, Digvijay Singh alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was more concerned about luxuries for himself and his legislators and was not bothered about the welfare of the common people. At a press conference here on Thursday, Digvijay said Chandrashekar Rao was focussing on projects like ‘Water Grid’ with the sole objective of getting commissions. He termed this as the largest scam that was taking shape in Telangana.
The AICC general secretary questioned the rationality of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government in taking up the biggest drinking water project without a ‘detailed project report’. Referring to the loans the government was considering for the project including Rs 10,000 crore from HUDCO and Rs 3,000 crore from NABARD, he held that the entire strategy was to achieve personal gains when the State was ‘loaded with loans’.
“The whole idea is to buy pipes and take commission. It is all part of the strategy and I see one of the largest scams in Telangana taking shape,” he alleged. Answering to a question Digvijay alleged that the Telangana Chief Minister was more concerned about the lavish spending, rather than fulfilling election promises. “He is more concerned about the luxuries of Ministers and officials who could take advantage out of the project,” he added.
Taking a dig at AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he asked the latter to focus on his promise of providing drinking water and employment to the people, rather than promising smart phones. He said that the APCC has already started campaigning against the government and collected more than 50 lakh signatures as part of it. He ridiculed that Naidu took credit for development of Telangana, while putting entire blame on the Congress for bifurcation. “Chandrababu Naidu has quickly learned the tactic of the BJP of double talk with forked tongue,” he said.
Reacting to the remarks of Union Minister of State Giriraj Singh on party chief Sonia Gandhi, he strongly condemned and demanded public apology from the Minister. He described the BJP to be ‘fork tongued’ party, as its party men made derogatory remarks, while the party distanced itself. “Rather than taking action against the erring party men, the party elevates them,” he lamented. Digvijay Singh explained that the Congress which was organising rally of farmers under Kisan Khet Mazdoor Union in New Delhi on April 19 would also rope in farmers from Telangana.
