Hyderabad: In the wake of the Intelligence Bureau sleuths expressing doubts that the slain SIMI militants might have hidden in Hyderabad, the city police have launched intensive door-to-door checking in Hafiz Baba Nagar, Indira Nagar and other areas under Chandrayangutta and Kanchanbagh police limits in the old city.

The SIMI activists’ encounter with the police in Nalgonda district and their boarding a bus at Chadarghat to flee to Vijayawada gave rise to suspicion that the terrorists might have taken shelter in the old city. Therefore, some 450 policemen from different units including Telangana State Special Police, City Armed Reserve, Task Force and civil police split into 20 teams and cordoned off the Hafiz Baba Nagar C Block area and conducted a house-to-house search.

They took into custody 113 persons including a few Bangladeshi and Myanmar nationals apart from some belonging to Odisha early Tuesday and interrogated them.The police said the detainees were subjected to intense questioning as they failed to produce proper identity cards.The police also seized 30 vehicles as the owners had failed to provide proper documents. Six rowdy sheeters were also taken into custody for questioning.
