Karimnagar: Alleging irregularities in the State government’s prestigious water grid project, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao was involved in the irregularities.Addressing the party workers at a meeting here on Thursday, he alleged that instead of taking measures to complete the water grid project without any defects, the Minister himself was encouraging irregularities.

The State government has allocated Rs 40,000 crore to complete the water grid project and initially divided the entire project into 14 packages, he said and found fault with the government for now reducing the number of packages to five. Where was the need to reduce packages when the TRS government was committed for the early completion of the project, he questioned.Recalling the TRS leaders’ criticism of Andhra rulers during the time of separate State agitation, the TPCC president wondered why a single Telangana person did not secure contract in water grid tenders. All the packages had been handed over to outsiders, he alleged.

Uttam Kumar flayed the TRS government for ignoring the welfare of different sections of society. “Except Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s family, almost all sections of the people including farmers, farm labour, women, students, SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and others are unhappy with TRS government,” he said. Stating that social justice has not been implemented in the Telangana State, he said that the Congress is committed to do justice to all sections.Uttam Kumar said KCR, during his election campaign, made various promises including two bedroom houses for the poor, three acres land to SC and STs, free education from KG to PG and others. But he has failed to fulfill a single promise so far, the Congress leader said.

The TRS chief also promised 15 and 12 percent reservation to Muslims and ST respectively but there was no progress in this issue, he blamed. Uttam Kumar also blamed the Chief Minister for not providing berths for SC (Madiga) community and women MLAs in his Cabinet. Unfortunately, leaders belonging to other political parties have secured place in the Cabinet, he said and added that original TRS workers were ignored. He dared the TRS to enter the leaders who migrated from the Congress into election battle.

Earlier, Uttar Kumar conducted a review meeting with party leaders to discuss about the farmers who lost their crops due to hailstorm and unseasonal rains that hit the district recently. Speaking on the occasion, he said farmers were facing hardships under the TRS rule in the State and NDA rule at the Centre.Stating that the Union government’s new land acquisition policy was going to disturb the lives of farming community in the country, he found fault with the TRS government for supporting the Bill.
