B Vinod KumarNew Delhi: “Part good, part bad and many more pending,” is how Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP B Vinod Kumar, narrated the experience of the Telangana government in dealing with the BJP-led NDA government in the past one year here on Monday.Vinod Kumar, along with his colleague Prof A S R Nayak, reviewed the arrangements for the anniversary celebrations at the Telangana Bhavan.

Analysing the journey of TRS from that of a political party fighting for a separate State to the first anniversary celebrations of the government, Vinod Kumar said though the centre of activity was Telangana before its statehood, New Delhi played a key role in every respect in fulfilling the aspirations of people.

The administrative role, the political support and the Constitutional recommendations had a major role in shaping the new State within 10 years of struggle, he said. Tracing the milestones of the struggle, he said though Congress leadership in Andhra Pradesh led by late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy delayed the statehood process, deft leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao yielded the desired results by 2013.

Coming to the AP Reorganisation Act itself, the first blow to Telangana State and its people was the merger of seven mandals of Bhadrachalam with Andhra Pradesh, he said. Second, injustice that continued to haunt Telangana was the non-creation of a separate High Court for the State which was causing hardships to the people in general and to the lawyers in particular.

Another glaring injustice was the delay in allocating the tax arrears to the State, he said adding that the delay in division of employees including bureaucrats was slowing down the governance process. On the ‘good’ that had happened to the State was the sanction of 4,000 MW power through NTPC as it would transform the State’s profile, he said.

On the achievements of the TRS government, he said the ongoing Mission Kakatiya works, Water Grid programme, pension schemes, supply of fine rice to the welfare hostels and the laying of BT roads were fine examples of good governance. He thanked all political parties that helped TRS in its struggle for separate Statehood and students, teachers, lawyers, the JACs and the people in Telangana and Delhi and journalists unions for joining hands with the party in the struggle.

Last but not the least, he said, was the role played by the martyrs in prompting the Centre to concede the justified demand of Telangana. On the issue of joining the Cabinet at the Centre, he said the TRS was happy with the role of developing the State single-handed and had no intention of joining any alliance.

The struggle of TRS was a lonely fight always and it would prefer to do so in the realisation of ‘Bangaru Telangana’, he added. It was apt that the government had decided to hold the first anniversary celebrations in New Delhi too, he said. Prof A S R Nayak, MP, was present along with Subhash, Director of Information and Public Relations of Telangana government.
