Hyderabad: The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will be laying foundation stone for Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme at Shivannagudem village in Marriguda mandal in the district, at 3 pm on Friday. Irrigation and drinking water woes of Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts will be overcome to a big extent once this project gets completed in the next two or three years.


Rao is set to unveil the new ‘industrial policy’ of Telangana state in the midst of business honchos from India and abroad at a programme to be held at HICC, Madhapur on Friday morning. After completing this engagement, he will head to Nalgonda district and is scheduled to address public meeting after laying the foundation stone.


Meanwhile, Telangana government accorded administrative sanction for this project set to cost Rs 6,190 crore. Dindi scheme will provide irrigation and drinking water to Flouride-affected areas of Munugode and Devarakonda constituencies of Nalgonda and some parts of Achampet and Kalwakurthy constituencies of Mahabubnagar district by lifting the flood water from the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir to Dindi reservoir at 0.5 TMC per day for 60 days to a quantum of 30 TMC.
