Hyderabad: TDP senior leader A Revanth Reddy’s wife Geeta Reddy will “fill the void” left by her husband in the Kodangal Assembly constituency following his arrest in the cash-for-vote scam. A day after their daughter’s engagement ceremony, Geeta held a meeting with a few leaders from her husband’s assembly constituency in Mahbubnagar. She enquired about the political developments in the constituency after her husband’s arrest.
Sources said that Geeta got into active mode on Friday to sustain the political future of her husband. On the instructions of Revanth, she called a meeting of the constituency leaders and informed them that she would be available round the clock (like her husband) to attend to the public grievances.
Recently, Revanth Reddy launched a programme in the constituency to address the problems being faced by farmers. Geetha, according to sources, said she would take forward the programme. She would meet the farmers and the poor who require immediate help from the party.
She will stay at her residence in Hyderabad and meet the people regularly. If any emergency, she will also rush to the constituency on the advice of the party leaders. Sources said that Revanth’s younger brother Kondal Reddy would look after the political issues ( particularly to keep the flock together in the wake of poaching by ruling TRS) of the constituency. He would also help Geeta with regard to the developmental programmes being launched under constituency development schemes.
Leaders said that the Telangana TDP and the party’s national Committee President N Chandrababu Naidu, during their meeting with Revanth family at the function, also assured all kind of help. It is learnt that Revanth’s family is mulling to chalk out a plan of action to fight back TRS government in case Revanth is not granted bail and imprisoned for a longer time.
