Asks AP Ministers to stop daydreaming of getting extra powers under Section 8
New Delhi: Asking the Andhra Pradesh Ministers and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders not to misinterpret Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, Telangana Rashtra Samithhi (TRS) MP B VInod Kumar and Special Representative of the government here S Venugopala Chary accused the TDP government of attempting to destabilize the TRS government. Talking to the media here on Tuesday, they hit back at the AP Ministers asking them to stop daydreaming of getting extra powers invoked under Section 8.
The provisions of the Section 8 did not mention liberty in the context of exploitation or corruption, they said pointing out that the law was violated by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his MLA A Revanth Reddy in attempting to bribe a nominated MLA of the TRS during the elections to the Legislative Council, and the law would take its own course.
It was also ironical that an experienced Chief Minister like Naidu wanted to be surrounded with AP Police while being a guest in Telangana, they felt and reminded him that it was the duty of the Telangana State Police to protect its citizens as well VIPs and guests like Naidu.
It was expected of the Governor even as per the provisions of the Section 8, that he be in consultations with the Telangana State Cabinet in day to day affairs and if so preferred, to act independently later, they pointed out referring to the charge that the Governor was consulting the Telangana government in this particular case.
The argument that the ACB of Telangana State should not have intervened, as the election code of conduct was in force, was also a fallacy because in situations of law and order, the police or the ACB would act on its own first in preventing a crime, they added.
They said they had information from the Centre that it would not interfere in the case and the Telangana government was independent to act on its own in the corruption case. Action would be initiated against the AP police officials too for shielding an absconder in the case, Mattaiah, and registering tutored false complaints given by him, they argued.
