Hyderabad: Though the Election Commission is yet to announce the date for Warangal Lok Sabha by-election, the race to get party ticket has picked up pace in TRS. Party loyalists, youth leaders and members of TJAC constituent organisations are eyeing the seat, which was held by Kadiyam Srihari till recently.

Srihari, who was inducted into the Telangana State Cabinet by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar, had resigned the Warangal MP seat on Saturday paving way for by-election. Since Warangal Lok Sabha is SC (reserved) constituency, the by-election gives on opportunity for Dalit leaders to stake their claim.

Former student leader and politbureau member Erolla Srinivas, SC Development Corporation chairman Pidamarthi Ravi and SC leader Manda Samuel are believed to be lobbying for TRS ticket. Erolla Srinivas expected assembly ticket in 2014 elections, but could not get it. He later lobbied for MLC ticket but was not accommodated due to political compulsions.

He is now hoping that luck would favour him at least in the third attempt. Warangal district leaders like G Ravi Kumar and P Dayakar, who have been associated with the party since its inception, are hoping that Rao would do justice to them. Also Dr JS Param Jyothi, noted educationist and owner of a private educational institution, is believed to be eying the TRS ticket.

Meanwhile, Dr Ramesh, honorary president of Telangana Government Doctors Association and chairman of Telangana Medical JAC, a constituent unit of Telangana JAC, is also in the fray. According to government doctors’ fraternity, TRS chief did justice to all those who actively participated in statehood movement, and its time health community was given its due.

Ramesh, belonging to SC (Madiga) community, hails from Warangal and also did his education and majority of his government service in the district. He is working in Osmania Hospital for the last six years.
