Hyderabad: More than 10,600 LPG consumers across Telangana State have voluntarily given up their subsidy. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, HPCL Senior Regional Manager (Retail) Ch Srinivas and Chief Regional Manager LPG Madhukar Angolay said that over 10,000 consumers in Telangana State have reacted positively to the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give up their subsidy.

They said the number is 6,670 in Andhra Pradesh. So far, 3,194 consumers from Hyderabad and 2,560 from Ranga Reddy have surrendered their subsidy on LPG. He said those who gave up their subsidy include state ministers and leaders of different political parties.

Srinivas informed that a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder cost Rs. 697 in Hyderabad which includes Rs. 239.65 subsidy component. He said of nearly 16 crore consumers across the country, about 5.80 lakh have surrendered their subsidy.

The LPG consumers who wish to give up their subsidy can either go to the website or send a message 'GIVEITUP' to 773829899 for Bharat Gas, on 9766899899 for HP Gas and on 8130792899 for Indian Gas. He informed that there were about 90 lakh LPG consumers in Andhra Pradesh and 70 lakh in Telangana State. He said 13 lakh additional connections would be given in Telangana State soon.
