The Telangana government on Thursday sanctioned Rs 12.9 crore for the development of the Vemulawada Assembly constituency, which boasts of Raja Rajeshwara Swami Temple, considered to be one of the biggest pilgrim centres in the state.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Thursday sanctioned Rs 12.9 crore for the development of the Vemulawada Assembly constituency, which boasts of Raja Rajeshwara Swami Temple, considered to be one of the biggest pilgrim centres in the state.


A GO to this effect was issued by the Planning Department. The amount has been allocated under the ‘special development fund for the welfare and development activities scheme.’ The TS government took this decision after receiving a proposal from Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar, who sought funds for overall development of the constituency.


The MP sought Rs 1 crore for the development of Vemulawada Nagar Panchayat, Rs 25 lakh for each mandal and Rs 10 lakh for development works in each gram panchayat. The District Collector was directed to draw the amount and monitor progress of works on a regular basis. The government allocated Rs 90 crore for ‘special development fund for welfare and development activities’ category in this year's budget.
