Pushkaralu on par with Kumbh Mela
The 12-day Godavari Pushkaralu will be celebrated like that of Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, said Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy. Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, Indrakaran Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would launch the Pushkaralu at an auspicious time of 6.21 am at Dharmapuri in Karimnagar district.

The Chief Minister had already spoken to his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis for release of waters to Basara to pave the way for the Pushkar festivities, he said. “Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao was pursuing with the Maharashtra government and we need 5 tmc of water”, the minister said. Other than Basara in Adilabad district, there were no water problem at all other places, he added.
The Endowments Minister further said that elaborate arrangements were made for the Pushkaralu in all the five districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam. During last pushkaralu, around three crore people attended Pushkarlu and this time we are expecting about six to eight crore people to take a holy dip, he said.
