As part of ‘Operation Smile’ to trace missing children, the North Zone police have rescued as many as 58 missing children from the city. According to the police, as many as 14 children were handed over to their parents and 44 were sent to rescue homes.

Hyderabad: As part of ‘Operation Smile’ to trace missing children, the North Zone police have rescued as many as 58 missing children from the city. According to the police, as many as 14 children were handed over to their parents and 44 were sent to rescue homes.


Operation Smile was started on July 1 this year in North Zone on the lines of a mission carried out by the Ghaziabad police to trace missing children. The operation traced 58 children from railway stations, bus stations, business establishments and roads. Around 14 cases were booked against the owners of various establishments under Child Labour Act and Juvenile Justice Act.


In this connection, three special teams were formed in North Zone with four police constables in each team headed by a sub-inspector as in-charge. These special teams would coordinate with Revenue and Labour departments. A dedicated inspector is nominated as zonal nodal officer for monitoring the divisional teams.


“If any person notices minor children as victims or finds any missing children, may call the toll free number 1098 or to the zonal officer of North Zone D Balaji at 9490616030,” DCP (North) N Prakash Reddy stated.
