Cap on gratuity is enhanced

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to sanction dearness allowance (DA) of 3.144 percent to state government employees payable from January 2015. The additional expenditure on the state exchequer because of this decision would be Rs 300 crore annually.


However, the State Cabinet has to ratify the decision after which related GOs will be issued. Rao is learnt to have approved the recommendations of Finance Department. Following fresh hike, the accumulated DA figure for each employee stands at 12.052 per cent


Around four and half lakh government employees, including pensioners will be benefitted from the hike. Employees of Zilla Parishads, Mandal Parishads, Gram Panchayats, Municipalities, Municipal Corporations and Agriculture Market Committees will also get the hike.


Also benefited will be the employees of Zilla Grandhalaya Samsthas, teaching and non-teaching staff of aided institutions, including aided polytechnics. TRS government earlier sanctioned DA of 5.99 percent to state government staff on the eve of Dusshera festival in September 2014.

Meanwhile, in a significant development, the TRS government has enhanced maximum limit of Retirement Gratuity from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. A GO to this effect was also issued on Tuesday.
