Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday adjourned to Thursday a batch of petitions seeking disqualifications of MLCs and MLAs who defected to some other parties. The bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt was dealing with a batch of petitions filed by various political party leaders seeking disqualifications of their MLAs and MLCs, who defected to other parties.


As reported earlier, floor leaders of Telugu Desam Party and the Congress Party approached the respective Presiding Officers, seeking disqualifications of candidates, who defected to the TRS party without resigning from the party on whose symbol they were elected. When the Presiding Officers failed to take action,


The present batch of petitions were filed. The bench heard inconclusively the arguments of the petitioners’ counsels. It directed them to submit apex court judgements on the same and adjourned the matter.
