Kaleshwaram (Karimnagar): Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao assured to provide irrigation water to 10,000 acres in the coming Kharif season by completing Phase-I of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Conducting a review meeting with the irrigation officials about the progress of various irrigation projects in the district here on Thursday, the Minister said about 330 acres land needed to be acquired to complete the Kaleshwaram project.


He asked Joint Collector Pousami Basu to deploy surveyors to acquire require land. He also assured supply of water to 13,000 acres in the next Kharif season by completing Sripad Yellampalli and Manthani lift irrigation projects. Earlier, Harish Rao visited bathing ghats after taking a holy dip at VIP Ghat along with his family members and having darshan of Kaleshwara Muktheshwara Swamy.

He expressed unhappiness over poor sanitation at toilets and changing rooms. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said a total of three crore pilgrims took holy bath in 106 bathing ghats constructed in five districts in the State till July 22. Stating that about 1.5 crore devotees took bath in Kaleshwaram in 2003 Pushkaralu, he said every day, about five lakh pilgrims were visiting the temple during the present Pushkaralu.
