The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday called for a report from the governments of Telangana and AP on the number of cases registered and steps taken with regard to non-payment of deposits to the customers by Agri Gold Farms limited company.

The bench made the order in a writ plea filed by Telangana Agri Gold Customers and Agents welfare association, represented by its president A Ramesh Babu of the city, seeking a direction to handover the case to CBI or ED. The court was told that about 40 lakh depositors have been suffering due to non-payment of maturity amount by the company.

So far, about 70 depositors and agents have committed suicide due to non-payments by the company. When the bench was informed by the AP government that cases are registered and properties are attached by the court under Protection of Depositors Act, it directed the DGPs of both the states to submit their reports to the court informing about the steps taken, including the number of cases registered.
