Nizamabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof Kodandaram on Wednesday demanded the Telangana State government to immediately take over and run the Nizam Sugar Factory (NSF) under government sector instead of running farmers societies or farmers’ committees.

Kodandaram participated as the chief guest in a seminar on ‘NSF Run under Government Sector and Public Industrial Policy’ organised by the ‘Nizam Sugar Protection Committee’ with the help of Left parties at Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium, Nizamabad. Including CPI (M), CPI and ten other left parties’ presidents and secretaries participated in the seminar and Nizam Sugar Protection Committee president V Raghavulu presided over the meet.

Speaking on occasion, Prof Kodandaram said that Nizam Sugar Factory brings the special identity to Bodhan town and Nizamabad district in the world map with its work. He alleged that the TDP government has no confidence in public sector companies and privatised the NCSF with many other public sector organisations.

According to Ambedkar, the governments should work for all the people in the country, but few earlier governments worked for capitalists and sold out Nizam Sugar Factory, Kodandaram said. Kodandaram demanded the State government to immediately nationalise NSF as early as possible.

He urged the government to take action on the then ministers, leaders of political parties and Delta Sugars management involved in corruption. He opined that only when the sugar factories would run under public sector, the sugar farmers would be profitable. He suggested the NSF employees and workers to give requisition to labour commissioner on removing them from services.

Nizam Sugars Protection Committee President Raghavulu said that the TRS government promised in its election manifesto to NSF farmers, works and employees that it would take over the factory upon coming to power, but till now the government has not taken any decision. He said the Deccan sugars management removed 130 employees on August 1, but the government did not take any action on it. He demanded the government to take over the factory immediately.
