The Telangana Government on Tuesday announced an increase in the salaries of the staff working for Gram Panchayat from 30 per cent to 50 per cent.

After a day-long meeting, the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced the hike for the Gram Panchayats. The Telangana CM also gave a call to all his party MPs and MLAs to adopt a village and develop it.

In addition to the goal of improving civic amenities, the programme also aims at ensuring 100 per cent education to all children in a village and adult literacy programmes, identification of land for a garbage dump at each village.With the `Grama Jyothi' programme, KCR wahts to eradicate gudumba consumption completely in the villages.
