KCR gives his nod; GO to be released soon
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on Thursday, approved the file pertaining to implementation of Tenth PRC for endowment staff. A related GO is likely to be issued soon.
This move will benefit 2,365 priests and employees working in 370 temples across the state. Consequently, the annual burden on the endowments exchequer will increase by Rs 4-5 crore.
Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy personally took the related file to CM, who gave his consent for hike of wages. Thirty percent of earnings from temples will be spent for wages of employees.
It may be recalled that temple staff launched a statewide stir in June first week with two main demands-salaries on par with government employees from Endowment wing’s treasury and hike of monthly allocation for ‘’Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam’’ scheme from the existing Rs 2,500 to Rs 6,000.
As a result, services at majority of temples managed by the Endowments department in Telangana came to a halt. The temple staff also stopped issuing tickets to devotees for various rituals. Although daily sevas for deities went on as usual, priests and temple staff boycotted regular pujas like Archana, which would be done after collecting fees from pilgrims.
However, priests and temple staff, who took to protest in ten districts of Telangana, withdrew from indefinite strike after intervention of the state government. Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy held talks with JAC leaders and gave them a positive response.
