CAMPAIGN AGAINST RAJIV GANDHI

Hyderabad: Recalling that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had striven for the development of the villages, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy described the BJP levelling wild allegations against the Gandhi family as “atrocious”. The Rajiv Sadbhavana Yatra, which started in Perambudur, reached Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the credit of lowering voting age to 18 should also goes to Rajiv Gandhi. The Gandhi family made many sacrifices for the sake of nation, he said. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should spell out his contribution to the country. The TPCC chief said the real tribute to Rajiv Gandhi was to curb terrorism and establish peace.

He said the Rajiv Sadbhavana Yatra was launched on August 9 at Perambuduru in Tamil Naidu, where he was killed, and it would continue till August 20. He also praised Karnataka PCC general secretary S S Prakasham, who was organising the Yatra. APCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy said Rajiv Gandhi had provided good governance to the nation and everyone should take inspiration from the ideals of Rajiv Gandhi.

Leader of Opposition in the Council Shabbir Ali, MP V Hanumanth Rao, MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, former Minister D K Aruna, former MPs Anjan Kumar Yadav, Vivek and others recalled that the courts had given a clean chit in the cases filed against Rajiv Gandhi. They warned that they would retaliate if External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj continue to make wild allegations against Gandhi family.
