Sand mafia: HC summons Mahbubnagar SP
The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatton on Monday called for the presence of the Mahbubnagar District Superintendent of Police on the question of illegal mining and transportation of sand.The bench was dealing with a public interest writ petition filed by Watch – Voice of the People.

The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatton on Monday called for the presence of the Mahbubnagar District Superintendent of Police on the question of illegal mining and transportation of sand.The bench was dealing with a public interest writ petition filed by Watch – Voice of the People.
The petitioner contended that the sand mafia in Mahbubnagar district had been brutally attacking the farmers who opposed excavation of sand from their lands. The petitioner alleged that several farmers were killed and the authorities had turned a blind eye to issue.The bench ordered the SP to respond to the allegations in person and called for his presence and adjourned the matter.
