Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Wednesday pulled up RTC officials for failing to regularise the contract staff (drivers) in the corporation. About 140 drivers working in various zones of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, along with TMU leaders, here on Wednesday complained to the Minister that their contract services were not regularised despite Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s promise.


Though the RTC regularised the services of 4,500 contract staff, they were denied the same, the drivers bemoaned. Responding to their plea, the Minister directed the officials to take immediate steps. He sought to know why they forgot to regularise their services who were working for three years since 2013.+


Later, the officials informed the Minister that they would take necessary steps to appoint them as permanent staff. Mahender Reddy asked the officials and staff to work in tandem to see that the loss making RTC generated more revenues. KCR allotted Rs 400 crore for strengthening the RTC, he said and asked them to make persistent efforts.
