Hyderabad: Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday said the State government would take a stringent action against illegal structures, unauthorised buildings and lands under the purview of GHMC and HMDA after giving the owners a final chance to regularise them.
The illegal structures and unauthorised building had come in the way of transforming Hyderabad into a global city, he said. The Cabinet Sub-Committee, constituted to study the problem of illegal structure and unauthorised buildings, besides illegal layouts, met here at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Minister.
Members of the Sub-Committee Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali and Minister T Padma Rao Goud attended. Home Minister Narsimha Reddy could not attend the meeting.
Speaking to media persons later, Srinivas Yadav said the government intended to digitalise land record and everything would online. This would help check malady. No structure on lakes and low-lying areas would be allowed, he said.
“There is a need for constructing two more reservoirs to cater to the growing drinking water needs of the people in the twin cities, providing better roads, sanitation and infrastructure, besides removing the bottlenecks to free flow of traffic,” he said, The government would soon distribute auto-rickshaw to a large number of persons engaged in collecting garbage at doorstep, he said.
The Sub-Committee had held three meetings so far and would discuss the subject at a final meeting soon. Later it would submit its report to the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, he said. GHMC Special Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary M G Gopal and other officials were present.
