Department of Library and Information Science, Osmania University, has organised a one-day workshop on ‘developing soft skills’ on Wednesday under Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of University College of Arts and Social Sciences.

Hyderabad: Department of Library and Information Science, Osmania University, has organised a one-day workshop on ‘developing soft skills’ on Wednesday under Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of University College of Arts and Social Sciences.

College Principal Prof Ashok Naidu emphasised that developing soft skills was very much essential for university students. Prof KV Achalapati said the students who possess soft skills would have better employability and developing soft skills was indispensable.

The programme director Prof V Vishwa Mohan, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, stated that information literacy skills were equally important besides communication and other soft skills in the present information age.

The workshop dealt with areas such as ‘how to face’ interviews, verbal communication, written communication, personality development, information literacy skills, language dynamics.

Dr K Bharathi was the convener of the workshop. Prof Sumita Roy from English Department, Prof Vishwa Mohan, Dr K Bharathi from Department of Library and Information Science, Prof Balaswamy from Department of Communication and Journalism, Dr Bhuwaneshwar from Department of Linguistics and Dr Swathi from Department of Psychology were the resource persons.
