Finance Minister slams Opposition leaders for raising a hue and cry over irrigation projects
Hyderabad: Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender on Friday launched a blitzkrieg against the Opposition party leaders for crying foul on the projects.
Addressing a meeting in Warangal, the Minister suggested the Congress leaders to introspect before making comments on irrigation projects which they ignored during their 10 years of rule.
For about five decades the successive governments had taken meaningless decisions and ignored the plight of backwardness of Telangana districts. He sought to know on what basis they seek a reply from the government on the suicides which were a national problem.
The problem was due to many factors such as no minimum support price, untimely rains, and no crop insurance, he said. “The Congress and TDP leaders who did not build a single irrigation project during their regimes in the region are now crying foul.”
He appealed to the farmers to not end their lives as the TRS government was there for their welfare and aiming to complete the irrigation projects on time. Finance Minister Rajender promised to provide remunerative prices to the produce to be preserved at godowns being built at villages.
The government also decided to offer interest free loan of Rs 2 lakh or the loan component equivalent to 70 per cent of the produce stored for six months, he declared.
